Fit a manual boost controller.
There is a small hose between the coldside of the turbo and the wastegate actuator. the manual boost controller splices into that pipe. You will also need a decent calibrated boost gauge so that you can see what the turbo is doing and you can set the boost at a safe level (under 15psi). This all assumes that the engine, gearbox, brakes etc. are in good condition before you start.

search for Manual Boost Controller or MBC.
You'll get a range of items from a few quid to omigod! You will also need a relatively accurate boost pressure gauge. Many vacuum gauges (hand-held) for diagnositc purposes read positive pressure as well and might be a better bet than installing a spangely dash gauge |

If you can find one it's worth buying a new actuator rated at a higher pressure.
The cheap boost controllers off ebay fall into two types and either create an adjustable air leak to fool the actuator into thinking the turbo has created less boost or the other type which block the signal to the actuator until the pressure overcomes the adjustable ball valve. I have found that the air bleed type valves are a bit smoother in operation. I have a combination of the three. I fitted a new actuator, fitted a small restrictor into the feed pipe to delay the pressure signal and have a bleed valve in the car to allow some adjustability. I have also piped the bled off air back into the system to stop the mixture being affected. If you are running standard unleaded then 12 psi is a safer place to start. |

Great description of how to install an MBC, by the way. In reality it is actually easier installed than described how to do it! |

Or????
Nick a knackered turbo off an HPT. They have a different length actuator arm and it's adjustable too. Swap the actuator arm. Adjust to taste.
