Default Guess the colour thread!

G'day Folks,

Can anyone here help me identify the paint colour code for my new PV544?

The wing has been redone more recently (I feel) than the dull bonnet.

The data tag on the car gives a number that's not red.

There's a possibility the red isn't even a Volvo colour - which will be a pain in the arse - but I get the feeling there's a good chance this is as the job done was really thorough. (To the extent that makes me think the shell was only ever red)

Its listed as a number on vin plate as "farg utv" in my case 67 slate blue or scifferbla. Cladstel is the upholstry. Post a pic' of your plate and I will give you details

I've checked the number on the ID plate and that indicates the red isn't original.

It has been painted really well (as well as being botched by others later on): The entire shell has been done inside door posts etc.

It has been suggested on a different (Dutch) forum that colour code 46 might be it.

Image search on the interweb gave this

Looks like it was a dull day

Yes, looks like "robin rod 46" Is the interior, door panels and seats, grey and cream?
What year and which engine?

I've just got some testers from the online paint place that I frequent and it looks like Signal Red 155 is going to be close enough. I'm in the middle of painting up a scrap of metal to make sure.

Had the same problem with my 1972 140, the colour code on the vin plate said
46 cherry red but every sample I got using this info was not right.
I contacted www. autopaintsbrightin.co.uk who said if I sent a sample ( fuel filler cap) they would match it, so I did and got sample and it was perfect 👌 1 ltr bought and job done.

Thanks Jeff.

That picture confirms that 46 isn't what I've got.

I did get a local paint shop to mix up a custom match but they didn't say until the end of the process that they couldn't supply a paint that didn't need a clear coat. I tried to get the on-line place to replicate the colour and they sent something that is pink...

...oh dear something went wrong.
