Default Other Reasons For Misfire Than Spark Plugs Or Ignition Coil?

My 2002 s60 2.0T was in storage for a few years, got it back on the road and drove fine for a while then developed a misfire (scanner reported P0305 code) so replaced spark plug in cylinder 5, got a bit better for a few journeys but engine still sputtering slightly and then same code appeared again so replaced ignition coil and problem got worse - engine light on and same code again. Not sure what else to try, any suggestions please? Looking for cheapest route to a solution of course...Thanks

Fuel Injector?

As a general rule with a single cylinder misfire try swapping components between cylinders and see if the fault follows.

The 3 things to check are; compression, fuel and spark. You’ve already done the last one. Try and swap the injectors, if that doesn’t work, get a compression gauge and check all 5 cylinders (pull the fuse for the injectors first)

Further to that you then need to check inlet, if the inlet gasket has failed on one port due to age this could cause it. It much less likely than the other things, but the paper gaskets can rot-out with moisture when stood.

Thanks all. How do you swap the fuel injector? Can’t really find anything on it via Google or YouTube (the one good video is blocked in my country - UK)

Pretty easy. Unscrew the torx screws on the plastic cover over the injectors which are on the intake manifold. Undo the electrical connectors on all five injectors. Push something on the valve on the end of the rail into a rag to release fuel pressure. Undo the fuel pipe supply to the rail. Remove the rail. Injectors are held into the rail with screws but do the swapping on a table

Replacement "O" rings and a small amount of lube (petroleum jelly or a light smear of silicone paste, I believe) are needed for reassembly.

Which spark plugs are you using?
Are these Volvo sparks plugs or another brand?
