Default Great instructions!

Thanks for the post - saved me over £70, bought the part for £36 from a volvo dealer selling on ebay, and spent 25 minutes following your procedure - the 18mm nut was a challenge getting to with my socket drive but got there in the end! Was quoted £129 for it by Lancaster Reading!

Im wondering if any of my engine mounts are knackered, Ive only owned my '04 D5 for a month now and love it. Started to notice a vibration under acceleration, enough to be able to feel through the pedals and to blur the rear view mirror!

Hi , I have just bought a 2010 XC90 D5 it has done 130,000 Kilometers and it has a small vibration through the steering wheel when idling and when driving slowly .
Can you tell me how i can check if I have a vacuum leak on the mounts ? as the car is still under warranty and I would like to get the problem fixed.

Thanks..

Also was looking to have the same problem, so instead removed the 4 bolts that hold the two "cross bar bush mounts" instead. This meant I could lift the cross bar completely clear to have a clear run at the top mount.

When putting back together I push the mount to the back of the bay without the bolts to fit the bush through bolt at the front of the slot, as suggest elsewhere in the forums. Was easy then to pull the bar forward and pop the bolts back in.

All the bolt sizes certainly made this much easier.

Hi this is a fantastic step by step guide, but for some reason I cannot see any of the pics. Don't know why any way you can send the pics to me.

I replaced the top engine mount on my XC90 today and thought I would post the procedure.

Remove the engine cover.
Remove the through bolt on the mount (15mm socket for bolt head and 18mm socket for nut).
Attachment 24437

Remove the right hand side restraint as it makes it easier to remove the mount (17mm socket for the bolt head and 18mm socket for the nut) and swing it towards the front of the engine compartment (not too much as it is still restrained on the left hand side).
Attachment 24438

Remove 3 off studs (14mm socket) and 2 off studs (10mm socket) from the mount and lift the aluminium block out.
Attachment 24439
Attachment 24440

Here are the two mounts side by side. Hopefully the new one is a little bit sturdier.
Attachment 24441

Reverse the procedure when fitting the new block, the Volvo mechanic said that the studs holding the block down should be set to 50 Nm (36.8 ft/lbs).

Here is the new block in position.
Attachment 24442

Took no more than 30 mins to do.
The new mount cost £55 and the part number for mine is 30776354 (Engine Anchorage).

Hope this helps some of you who are unsure about tackling the basic jobs on your car.

CMJ73, the reason the pics don't come up is they where on a server that was replaced after the date of the posting. So they wont come back up.

The replacement is straight forward even following these instructions without pics. I understand from your general post is how do you know that the mount needs replacing ?

If you can move the torsion bar by any fair degree back and forth, then the mount is shot. I would say any back and forth movement more than 1cm and the mount is on its way out. Mine is less than this - post new mount fitted.

Dont scrimp on non Volvo parts if poss.
