East Anglia Performance Volvo Meet 7th May

Andrew I make it 87 hours to 12.00 noon Sunday 7th May, 2 confirmed from the VOC nothing from V Tech at present and still some tbc's from the VPCUK. So I guess that's 19 lol. Volvo United one day lol. Some of us are trying.

No offence to you guys - I applaud what you are doing.

However, I would find it very difficult to attend a meet primarily arranged by a Volvo forum/club from which I am banned.

Bless you Gary, thank you. No offence to you all but I don't think I would be able to support a meet organised under the name of people who have made it blatantly clear they do not want me around and have never had the guts to at least tell me why I was banned.

I have seen snide remarks made on other forums so this post is in response to those.

I have been treated very badly by the organisers of this meet. I'm sure they do not wish to have their dirty laundry aired and I have more dignity than to do that.

However, it angers me when people try and turn this round on me. Look at this thread and you will see that I made a massive attempt to allow said people to sort this out and move on. Their lack of response says it all.

I did not sleep for about a week when posting this and felt ill because I have been hurt very much by said people.

For those of you that do not know, this is not just a Volvo forum war. I have lost touch with my brother because MrsMopp has a problem with me. (They have bought a house and are living together.)

OK, so, put yourself in my position. I was banned for no reason, other than being a customer of S W Autos which is what I was told, have seen vindictive and spiteful posts aimed at me on said forum. How would you all feel? Having your voice taken away and not being able to defend yourself? Would you then attend one of their meets? Would Adam attend a VOC meet now that he is banned?

Yes, I am angry - quite rightly so

It is a shame that such rifts exist between the forums; I am not sure of the reasons for them and it's none of my business either. I would like to say, as someone who bought a Volvo and wished to meet like-minded's, that it is no less than a tradedy such underlying animosiy exists. I find it unfair that people who join either forum get sucked into it via association, because it's clearly not something that can be kept on a personal, private level between those involved.

I had the pleasure of attending the Avon Park meet, and soon realised the political situation I had walked blindingly unprepared into. It was uncomfortable to witness the groups' seperation, and was slightly taken-aback when the knives came out over the day's events. I would loved to have met more VOC members, but felt I hadn't the prerequisite tacit understanding to navigate what I perceived to be a no-mans-land minefield between, and that by not doing so would then be perceived as confirming an alleigence of sorts.

I am concerned that by being a member of a respective forum, one gets tarred with the same brush and that bad feeling towards eachother is somehow inherited. This is *so* far from the truth to the innocent members trapped between it all.

I thought about just keeping my head down on this one, and now probably risk getting banned left right and centre LOL. But I, for one, am fed up of it all. And I hope that lots more people on both sides are too.

Martin, you are free and welcome to air your opinions with no repercussions on here.

I'm sorry that you feel sucked into this one-sided feud. I can categorically state that I've never treated anybody with any prejudice due to which forum they belong to or volvo they drive. I hope this is apparent in my Jammie Dodger thread and the Volvo United threads. I also do not know of anyone from VOC or Volvo-Tech who have rejected anyone based on which forum they frequent. All are welcome to any of our meets, an open invitation has always been extended.

Unfortunately in my case, the situation is personal and I would hope that no-one feels uncomfortable as a result. I'm not happy about posting personal details, however, this was my only way to respond to inaccurate insinuations on another Volvo forum
