Fuel pump return snapped
Hi all, just looking for abit of knowledge..
The return nozzle has snapped on my fuel pump (Cars a s60 D5 2002) im just wondering can i buy just the 'cream' coloured top lid part of the pump and replace with, in my case, the broken top lid of mine. Or is it a case of buy the whole thing and replace all the cables etc etc, from what I've seen on guides. I've attached a pic of the top of the pump.. Ignore the black putty around the return.. It's my panic attempt at trying to glue it back together lol Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks Mike |

Apparently it a fairly common problem with the pump cover. You could try these links:

Thanks for the Links mate, 'Lancee' seemed to have the same problem I have now, so I've ordered some 'JB Weld' to see if I can sort it the same way he did.
But if not, I'm still unsure on if you can swap just the top 'Cream' part with the outlet and return pipes without having to replace the whole pump. Thanks |

Just to update this, I've cleaned all the black putty off from the last pic of panic fixing, superglued the return back in place on the pump, then put quiksteel all around it.. So far its held and there's no more leak.
It looks like from messing with it, someone in the past has removed/replaced the pump and put it back in, on the wrong angle (arrow not facing directly to the tailgate) and forced the fuel lines onto it and over the years its strained the plastic return 'tube' and put a bend on it and it finally gave up. I'm just worried it wont hold and don't really want to put all the seats back incase it doesn't.. Just gotta make a decision on if I wana swap the pump this weekend, or run it with the fix to save me all the mauling of the swap. Thanks again @ASt85 for the links, they was a big help! Its got to be worth giving the fix a good try out over a few days. That plastic metal stuff is really good for all sorts of things - I once used it to repair a crack in a cylinder head; it held for years.
Fingers crossed it'll hold
