RE: CVT Heat on back seat?
Hi Theo
A CVT transmission will always generate a certain amount of heat - that is why there are cooling ducts running from the front bumper (there are 2 grilles in the bumper on CVT cars - an easy way to spot one. Blanking plates on manual cars) As long as all the ducting and shields are in place it should be cooled adequately. If your belts are out of adjustment there may be some slipping that will cause excessive heat build up as may a low oil level in the primary or secondary gearboxes. Check the levels and belt adjustment (Do you get Haynes Manuals in the Netherlands? - If you don`t I can give you more detailed instructions on how to do this) Could the heat be the exhaust? |

I find the left hand side of the boot floor also get quite warm. It is directly over the exhaust - so don't put your frozen shopping there.
