Default MY17 v 18 Start/Stop

Not a complaint

So i'm in the 67 reg xc90 D5 loaner and its a MY18 car.

Start stop when disabled still seems to shut the engine partially off or something like that anyway. Press brake, stop, then seconds later you feel something shut off.

Totally different to my 17reg thats in being fixed. On my car when you disable start stop the engine is just on, all the time.

When you lift off to move away something deffo kicks back in.

Unless the loaner is wonky too lol

Does it still do this when in dynamic mode, stop start does not work in dynamic mode so if it still does this then it has to be something else.

What surprises me is when using the economy mode the stop start doesn't seem to work. ie the engine doesn't stop.

Default Start stop

I have a MY18 car and it has a feature where the start stop only kicks in if you brake hard (even after you have stopped). That may explain why it seems to work or not.

I find if I stop gently it does not stop and then if I press the brake pedal harder it stops - I really like it.

Recently I have noticed that if you have loads of toys on (heated seats etc) it seems to not stop.

Mine is a MY17 XC90, and I see the same behaviour. So I can choose when to let the engine stop and when not to.

It should work in eco mode, it may be that other factors were preventing it at that time, temp, battery, or any one or more of the large list of other preventative measures volvo have built in to the stop start system.

I haven't used eco mode that often, will give it another try, but you are probably right about all the factors that can stop it from working. It works fine in comfort mode.

My Stop/Start works fine in eco mode - if anything, it seems more keen to stop the engine in eco mode for me.

My stop/start was working by the time I got to the end of the drive this morning. I did pre-condition though.

It seems to be one thing that works consistently.
