I would be keener to piggy back off a fuse in the fuse-box in passenger footwell that is ignition switched live. Is the fusebox on the LH or RH of the footwell as you sit in the car pls? Is there one in there ignition switched live?
Also did you pull back the A-pillar trim to get the cable to the camera behind the airbag and if so how does the trim come away pls?

I got a Nextbase 212 installed at Halfords for about £100 all in (inc £20 filter lense). I don’t mind working on cars but the fuse box is a pain to access and it only worked out £5 more for Halfords to fit, it took them about 2 hours so was a no brainier really.

I had my dash cam fitted by a professional fitter, he said he hadn't got a piggy back fuse of the size, to fit the new size fuses fitted to my car, which I believe are micro fuses.
He connected up to the 12v outlet in centre tunnel. Works a treat.
Took about 2hrs and cost £75.
Hope that makes sense.

the fuse size is Micro 2 not micro if anyone is looking to purchase a piggyback 'add a fuse'.
