Your service book should give you servicing intervals. What engine is it? D3, D4 or D5?

I have owned a D3 and now on a D4. Motorway driving sitting between 60 and 65mph on cruise control gives me best MPG. I can get it to 50mpg on reasonably flat motorway as average. If a hilly motorway, 45mpg average.

On typical windy A-class roads, I average 35 - 40mpg. City driving start and stop 32 - 35mpg.

Cheers

Hi
Thank you it gives me some Idea it is a D5 not collected it yet as they are servicing and MoT plus a valet
It has all major services and a water and belt changed at 85000
mileage is now on 103000
I am looking forward to getting it as my last volvo was a 244 about 25 years ago
anything on the downside with these 2.4 D5 I should be wary of or to look out for

regards

The aux belt and its tensioners need regular changing every 54K as if it lets go it can derail the cam belt and the engine eats the valves. Most car owners don't see the aux belt failing as other than a cheap to fix inconvenience. On the D5 it can lead to the engine writing itself off. The cam belt itself lasts twice as long and is changed every 108K.

Thankyou

I see from the service records the water pump and belt was changed at 85000 miles
does this belt also run the tensioner belt or is it separate
When I collect the car I can possibly check back through the records of what has been done on the car

Mines has rear as standard. Front sensors are an optional extra I think.

OP said above, "...I can possibly check back through the records of what has been done on the car".
ABSOLUTELY DO THIS IF YOU CAN.

Make sure to inspect/service the coolant. Volvo coolant is quality stuff and lasts a long time. However, people can dilute it using cheaper stuff as replacement.

Also, old, bad coolant will protect from freezing but won't inhibit corrosion as fresh coolant does.

See if the cabin air filter has been changed.

Best of luck with your new vehicle.

I don't know if the 2010 car had front sensors but on my 2012 the front and rear sensors are combined into a system Volvo call Park Assist which automatically bleeps and shows a either a front or rear proximity diagram on the display screen if you get within the trigger distance.. There is a sound disable button on the low right had corner of the central button cluster if you have the system. I find it very useful as you can judge distances by the change in the sound tone without having to look at the diagram or take your eyes of your manoeuvre.

Thank you for all the input it will be a learning curve, it will certainly be nice to have the comfort and knowledge that it is a well built car
certainly plenty of comfort in a Volvo
can you advise on tyre pressures as someone has said to increase pressure to 39 all round I thought this a strange pressure
