There is alot of conflicing information on how to tell if there is one fitted;
- the 8th character of the VIN is the first check, if this is a 4 (Euro 4) it may have one fitted
- the left hand side of the battery compartment will contain an additional connector for the DPF
- also check under the rear axle, if a DPF is fitted there will be a small reservoir fitted which feeds the DPF with fluid, if no DPF fitted you will see a small metal plate in its place.

Default 2007 (56 plate) 2.0 d SE V50 MPG

First post, long story.

TLDR; Bought a well kept but barely used car that did about 42mpg for a couple of weeks. New tyres, balancing, full tank of fresh fuel with injector cleaner additive and a bearing and I'm sitting at an easy 58 mpg on standard fuel. 70%ish motorway miles on cruise set to 63-65mph. Pretty cautious driver, this is the fastest car I've owned!

So I bought myself a lovely V50 as a work car in august. I'm self employed in construction and cover at least 400miles per week and often 700+ so needed reliability and comfort. I usually change car each tax year because of my miles.

The car only had 91k miles but had only done an average of 3k miles per year over the last 4 years (disabled owner).
Started off with the occasional misfire on starting which prevented revving. I put this down to local short trips and maybe low battery power getting to the starter so it needed breaking in again.

The fuel warning light seems to come on at 100 miles or more on the computer which is very cautious and freaked me out to begin with. After a couple of trials I verified this to be pretty accurate.

I once managed to get 50ltrs in after a squeaky bum trip up the A90 where my usual fuel stop ran out of diesel!

I just hit 100k and the car is in for a bit of a service today.
Change of oil and new filters, tracking needed doing on drivers front wheel as well so that might help with the mpg and reduce wear on the new tyre (bought last week). Looks like the timing belt was done already as theres little wear at all and it looks new but there's no history available to verify it so the garage will check today as well.

I had a problem with a sunroof drain pipe leaking into my footwell after the bearing was replaced. Bloody nuisance drying it out and had to tape up the sunroof till I figured it out. Its still taped up though as I havent had time to remove the wheel and plastics to get at it.

Overall I love this car. I was looking at moving to the XC70 with the same 2.0d engine just for space and ride height (we have dogs and a caravan) but I will see how it goes come may time.

Safe travels.
