Hi guys,
First of all, big thank you to everyone involved in this thread, tremendous help!
I cleaned throttle body, replaced swirl flap solenoids and cleaned TMAP sensor and check engine light went away.
I used Ford part, which is exactly the same as Volvo one. I went for ebay part, £21 delivered. Other costs were Halfords carb cleaner (£5) and contact cleaner (£4).
BTW. car is Volvo S40 1.8, MY2005.

Happy Easter!

Hello Volvo friends,

i also had the p2008 fault code (bluetooth OBD adapter and torque app for android), which occured several times.. sometimes it went off by its own, sometimes i had to erase the code from ECU.

I have a olvo S40 with 1.8 l petrol engine, manual transmission from the year 2007.

Then i replaced the part which is called :
SWIRL SOLENOID TUMBLE VALVE

The Article number is: 31375551

you can find it for example here where i bought it (german car parts supplier for Saab and volvo, located in Germany):

http://www.skandix.de/de/fahrzeug-te...lappe/1040194/

Replacement is not that difficult. After replacement there might be a little more power in the lower revs, but i am not so sure about it. let´s see if the fault code comes again.
I marked the 4 hoses, two on each.
here is the result:

Thanks to all the comments on this thread I have got my car back😃. My car was running very lumpy and sometimes struggled to start. I bought an OBD code reader off eBay and it told me I had a dtc 2008. My engine light was on so I googled it and came across this thread.
I bought the solenoids on eBay for £15 which were OEM with 12month guarantee. It took me 10 mins to change them and my car is like new. I reset my dtc via the reader and they haven't come back, all Good
