Default Plastic side trim

Hello All,

Just collected my T5 estate yesterday aft and chuffed to bits. Only thing is you end up going over the car all the time trying to find niggly faults, and so far I've only the 2 that you maybe able to advise on :-

1) the grey/black trim that runs down down the outer side of doors etc .... well the small section under the side indicators seems to be lose, do these stick on ? or are they fixed through the panel ? I'd like to get this fixed before it gets worse.

2) A bulb seems to have blown on the instrument panel behind the fuel gauge. This is covered by my warranty but having looked in the haynes book it reckons you need to demolish half the car. I don't want this because I'm sure there will be risks over rattling noises etc at the very least occuring if this happens just for the sake of a bulb.

Is this the only way to get at the bulbs or does anyone know of any easier way to change it ?

Cheers,

Craig

craig

from what i remember(cant find the page in manual) the door trim on the V40 is glued on. i would assume it would be the same on the T5, only assume though. not a fat lot of use i know , sorry ;-)

now for the dashboard (and the useful bit of this post), have a look over at

http://www.volvospeed.com/volvo_performance.php

in the repairs and maint section there is a step by step guide to dashboard removal and bulb replacement in the trim section.

cheers

scott

The external side plastic trims are a kind of rubbery plastic over a piece of thin alloy. On the alloy or rear side there is a channel into which some plastic clips attach which in themselves locate into small holes in the car bodywork, it should just clip back on but you may need to replace a clip or two.

Changing the dash bulbs does require major dismanteling of the dash assembly. If it's under warrrenty I would get them to do it but pay a little extra for them to change all of the bulbs, they're all the same age therefore they'll steadily got out together.

Enjoy your new car!

Thanks for help.

Had a closer look last night and it seems to have the std arrow headed plastic clips, so it just required a good push and it's rock solid again now.

Cheers,

Craig
