Default Interesting 264 TE......in Germany

Well here is an interesting project for someone!

A 264 TE Limo apparently one of the ones built for the German Presidents in the 1970's - I am told this is what the advert says, I don't read German!

But what a car this could be.......OK it might need a touch of T-Cut here and there.......

My friend has one of the three which came up in South Wales a couple of years ago. There were thought to only be two in the country until three more came along, all sold together, on eBay one day!

Amazing pieces of kit...

cheers

James

Hej @all,
These streched versions were (exclusiveliy) delivered to the government of former East Germany (GDR).
The government of the GDR was in need of a representative car in the 70s. Because of the lack of a substantial car industry (at least for exclusive cars) in their own country the had to import. Buying Mercedes' S-class or BMW's 700 was impossible for political reasons. So the only way was to get in contact with Volvo (in the 70s still an independent original swedish company). Why was this so "fitting"? Because all scandinavian countries had got the most socialistic orientated politics in the 70s of all "western" countries. So there was no problem of a political/diplomatic discrepancy...
So that is why the GDR had 264 TEs as a state coach.

Look for the landaulet!! Wonderful!!

Regards
Clemens

If you watch the Lives of Others the East German politician in the film runs about in a 200 series Limo. There used to be a bloke who lived near me used one for his limo hire business.
