A safe/lazy way?

Pop into a reputable local dealer (Volvo if possible) that sells good quality 2nd-hand cars as well, look at a couple of good-looking cars and ask them if they use a company to 'prep' their cars. And if so, who?

A pro might be a bit more expensive; but much more skilled.

Polish? No doubt you will have your own preference, but I’ve used Autoglym Resin polish for years.

I actually have the G3 in my amazon list, so will look at the G10 too. Also had the Autoglym resin polish in there too. Good ideas with the scrap parts, however the only one near me charge a fortune for parts, doubt they will sell anything off cheap.

Yes, very good. I went on a group visit to Meguires back in the winter was the first introduction to their products for me- always been an Autoglym and Poorboys fan before. Meguires are streets ahead and so easy to use. That visit inspired me to purchase the polisher and has transformed my car cleaning results.

you wont damage anything much with that by hand
you are also not going to take much other than very fine surface scratches out
you will end up with elbow/arm /neck/back ache

meguiars stuff is Always going to be "ok to decent" , not the best out there BUT for the £point "not bad"

you would Still be Strongly advised to Mask the car prior to applying those, white residue crammed into window rubbers, door rubbers and the edges of
AND on the black plastic trims Will take you longer to get off than you would credit


if you werent all the way the other side the country id say pop over see my v50's paintwork, and id have a nose at yours see what could be done with a DA and compounds, but with this covid-bollox-19 and the govemnets utter BS about it ,popping down to yours to do it is impossible, need a day or 3 and travel lodges etc are all shut thanks to boris's bs

I use a silver line polisher. What ever you get, if you get one make sure you get the velcro type head, so you can change pads etc and speed settings. Said polishers on a certain auction site that you tie on or have two handles are cheap and nasty. A good machine with say Halfords g Tec polish products will get you very good results.
If you wet you finger, run it over the scratch and it disappears for a few seconds means it'll polish out. Those scratches you can feel with you finger nail wont, they need paint.
Oxidizing, swirlling and light scratches can be rectified using a polishing machine.
Gyrating all over your steed will gain £££ on the resale and much satisfaction after. Before you know it you'll be a pro, it's easy and very straight forward to do

@andy_d, I’ll take some photos and post them here. There are some Other sections that need filling and spraying but I want to see how the bodywork comes out first before attacking the harder jobs.

Autoglym is good, needs a lot of effort as it's very fine, but, it's good. It really depends on how good / bad the panels are and what you're trying to achieve.

A repair shop would likely let you have a panel or two at little or no cost if they have a bit of damage on. Bent bits not sellable at the scrap yard. What is it now, £30/ton? How much do you want?

That’s a good point, there’s a repair place behind my work so when I’m back in work (working from home) I might pop in and see if hey have anything. I regularly see parts in their skip.
