hi folks, got an x 00 reg xc70 2.4 petrol turbo, done 104.000 miles runs sweet but every now and again under hard acceleration i get a whooshing sound and eml pops up and says engine service urgengtly required. any thoughts, cheers mike

Could be several things, possibly a split hose around the boost solenoid and turbo. Best approach would be to get car read for fault codes.

Had the same thing on my XC70 (though it's a diesel). Turned out to be a split turbo pipe, but no-one found it 'till it was in the main dealer. Parts was the most expensive bit of the fix though - even my local garage said they would have gone to Volvo for a new one, so wouldn't have saved much.
