Default Looking to buy a c70 convertible

My wife has a S60 D5 geartronic which she loves, but as of September she is not going to driving anything like the distance she had been doing (64 down to about 3 miles a day) due to having a new job. Now she is very keen on maybe looking at a C70 convertible (upto an '05).

What do we need to be looking at/for on these models and does anyone know of any examples for sale in Suffolk to maybe look at (upto about £3500)?

Many thanks in advance

Try having a look in the 850 / S70 & V70 '96-'99 / C70 '97-'05 General forum: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=16 if you haven't already.

I think the main things that are particular on the convertible are the scuttle shake can be quite bad (strut braces can improve this) and to make sure the soft tops seals properly, is in good condition and that the mechanism works correctly. Otherwise its much the same as the coupe.

Brooklands ..... Andy is Bang on the Money with his post "Scuttle shake" is "moderate" on the C70 Vert but can be removed almost completely by the addition of a front Strut Brace & a Tow bar!!! .... (The Tow bar stiffens up the rear end considerably) & is a very cheap "Fix" fer Rear Scuttle Shake on Verts

hi. we have an 03 convertable and love it. what the others said about scuttle shake. i fitted a strut brace, about £65 from volvo, and a detachable tow bar and they have helped a lot. usual checks , make sure hood works as it should. if its a t5 then front tyres ,discs and pads. ours is a 2.0 lpt and find it adequate and we tow a van. hope this helps. steve.

Lovely car to own and drive - took a while to find the one I wanted - colour scheme etc. but in the end drove to Scotland from Wales to get her last september. Great with the top down and a lot of fun. My T5 is fab, and I've always got the extra push in the engine to use if needed!
