Default Grill behind bonnet

I would like to remove the grill just in front of the windscreen but cannot find how to do this. Looking up behind the dash board doesn't look promising - I'd doesn't seem to get high enough to reach whatever is holding it. Easing it up there appears to be a couple of rods going through so probably clips or something under the body. I can only think that I have to remove the heater box under the bonnet which might expose a hole to get at them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The grill is held in place by clips that are just a friction fit. You pry the grill up using a suitable tool. I use a plastic trim tool to pry the grill

Assuming your grille is in its original config, it's easier than you might think. The grille on my '66 Amazon is held in place with metal spring clips (later models used plastic, I think). Using a plastic trim removal tool (use tape to protect paint), you can pop the grill loose for removal.
