DPF reset software
Well after driving my 05 V50 2.0D last week suddenly "ENGINE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" warning lit up on dash.So brought my car to my local and excellent mechanic who straight away said the additive tank needs topped up. So he done this and all is fine except he cannot clear the message from the dash display. Volvo want at least £80+vat to do it has anyone any other ideas on how to get rid of the message or do i just ignore it???
All help kindly thanked. Bryan |

When topping up the additive, the additive tank level has to be reset on the volvo diagnosic machine and fault codes cleared . Why did it run out ? wasnt it topped up at the 36000 or 72000 service ? They usualy go on another 15000-20000 miles then run out if neglected ..
If you negelect it now the particle filter will block leaving you with a big bill . ( particle filter has to be changed at 75000 mile service )

Resetting
Hi
Yes, there is a way to clear this, but for the life of me I can't remember it, it's something like turn your ignition to position 2 then press the trip meter reset twice, then turn key off or something like this. Do a search for it as it's on here somewhere. I'll look it up when I get home. Hope you get it sorted. UKTech |

OK, I bow to your superior knowledge, but there seems to be lots of things that can be reset if only we all knew the way to do it without requiring some sort of equipment. As you know about these things can I sak you if there is anywhere on this forum or any other forum or website where this knowledge is shown. UKTech |

Also on a v70 not a v50 so may not work, you can hold trip switch then put in the key, put from position 1 for about 5 seconds then to 2 for 10 Seconds and it beep and will reset items such as ABS/brake checking etc as well others I have found. some cars, not sure about the v50 also have inbuilt fault finders that will clear a message say after starting the car a number of times, Fords use a system like this on some cars that after 8 starts (not just ignition on) it will reset a number of error messages if the fault has been resolved, according to its own self diagnostic!
