Default Beautiful 1989 Volvo 340GLE 1.7 in Car & Classic

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C273536

Hi everyone,

Long time since I have been on here.

In fact the Autumn of 2008 !!!

Anyway, I viewed this car for a Volvo 300 Mania member three weekends ago and it is one of the finest 340's for it's age that I have ever seen.

It's as good as my Trundle 2 was, in fact better ...

Trundle 2 being taken away after I sold her on behalf of my neighbour - long story !!

It's a one owner car and belongs to the gentleman's aunt who has had it maintained by the local Volvo dealer with no expense spared.

It's done just over 34K !!!

I did not drive the car but the seller ran the engine and it was as quiet as a bird. Also did not look underneath but if it's as good as the top, then I am sure it will be fine.

He is open to offer so I suggest you give him a call.

But he refuses to sell the car to a drifter and is waiting for an enthusiast who will love and cherish her.

The car has been garaged all it's life.

Here are my fotos:

Immaculate engine bay

Just cosmetic

Leaf debris - no rust at all

Just a bit of back to black needed

Boot interior like new

Like new

Like new with well mats

Well mats and like new - no rust anywhere - Front seat bolster is 100%

Sunroof and seal is perfect

Windscreen rubbers 100%

Minor dent in plastic bumper

Minor marks that just need touching in and compounding - Then will never be seen - not down to metal

Missing wheel trim and good tyre

Good tyre and minor scratch on wheel trim

Love the colour - No chips on bonnet's leading edge & wings are 100%

Taxed to 31st July 2012

More back to black needed

Same shot but closer - Easily sorted

Front valance looks fine

Unless the seller is willing to reduce the price to around £400.00 to £500.00, I doubt that he will ever sell it.

Sad but true !!

After giving this car a lot more thought, I think a fair value is around the £600 to £800.00 mark providing that after an RAC inspection/or 340 expert, it's as good underneath as it is on top.

Also it needs to be driven to see that it's in 100% mechanical condition.

This is such a specialist market and it would be criminal if the car goes to either a drifter or someone who is just going to use it as a runaround until it either deteriorates or something breaks and then it lands up in a breaker's yard.

It must go to a genuine Volvo 340 enthusiast who will cherish it forever.

Just had an e-mail from the lovely gentleman selling this stunning car.

Good news as it appears that it's gone to a buyer who is going to cherish it.

Anyone on here?

Hi Paula

Good news for me, not such good news for you. The car is now sold - to a newly retired gentleman who wanted a project and looks to be an ideal purchaser who will do the right thing by it just as Jen or you might have been. It even gets a garage so I am hopeful that it will be appreciated and cared for. He's had a GLE once before.

Thanks again for your help, advice and encouragement. I hope you find what you are looking for, stay well.

Best wishes

Default What a corker!

I'd love one of these old 300 Series. I posted a while ago that I drove a 360 GLT which was an absolute treat. Trade in at a local garage about fifteen years ago. Up for £900, the salesman said "if you like it you can have it for £500." Absolutely no rust whatsoever and ran perfectly. I must have been a fool way back then as well, because I left it on the forecourt!

Just sent an e-mail to the seller saying:

Some of us would like to know how your Aunt's car gets on.

Would you like to send this link to the new owner.

He may already be a member of the Volvo Owner's Club but if not, it would be a useful point of reference.

Many thanks
