first anti skid then a whole lot more.
i was on my regular 20 mile commute to work i dropped my daughter off first and pulled away and the anti skid service message came up but car was normal in all other ways stopped after a mile or two and turned car off and on again and anti skid had gone away, 6-7 miles later the whole dash died on me no messages no dials and no display in radio but still playing through speakers, two miles later the dials came back to life except fuel guage and i have srs service and anti skid service message, im really quite worried this is going to be expensive and time consuming. do you know of any thing that i can do or does anyone know of a person who could read the volvo fault codes in the kings lynn area for a reasonable price.
im sorry this post is long but im trying to give as much info as possible, i you need anymore please ask. |

I don't think there's much you can do without the codes being read, but you're in good company as my (new to me) 2010 XC90 did the anti skid message on me at the weekend. Luckily I had Volvo assistance with the car as it was last serviced at Volvo, they came out and read the code as 'steering angle sensor' and then the cleared the code. Apparantly the SAS fault is common, and there's a software update that can sometimes cure it, which I'm trying next Tuesday at my Indie. If the software doesn't sort if then a new SAS is £360 incl at my Indie, or £420 incl at the main dealer. So hopefully yours is the same issue as a worst case.
Randomly though my fuel light was on when this happened, and the error message came on again the next day after they reset it. The day after that I filled up with fuel and I haven't seen the error message since?! |

aircon and radio ***tion as they should. reverse service req. (been like that for a while) im looking for someone in the norfolk/kings lynn area that would be willing to read the fault codes for me. |

further update
ok so i tried the old disconnect the battery and put the two leads together for 10 mins and it worked, i now have the fuel gauge back and no anti skid message.
i still have the srs urgent message (i believe associated with the dash failure) and a reverse service message (i think it may be the loom it intermittant, is there a guide on how to remedy this) mine is a 2003 xc90 with 91000 on the clock i think im going to send the dash away to be reconditioned who do you recommend? |

Find the fault first.
Hi I had similar on mine, dash went strange in stages.
Mine turned out to be the DEM module had failed and was sending dodgy signals, which the computer was interpreting as all sorts of faults, and yes it was expensive, (£1300) for a new one dealer fitted. It could also be something else sending dodgy codes around, that would be much cheaper. I am guessing what you are seeing on the dash is the consequence of the fault, and not the fault, so as before, you need a full code read first before splashing the cash about.

You can get the existing DIM (Driver Information Module, the instrument cluster) repaired for much much much cheaper than a new one, and no reprogramming required. Do not confuse with the DEM (Differential Electronic Mobule, in the rear under the car).
These places repair DIMs and CEMs and more http://revtronic.com/product/volvo-c...-panel-repair/ http://volvodiagnostic.com/shop/inde...duct&id_lang=1 Check both out and choose the one you want to use Both are good

You mean the CEM. There's a video on YouTube. Search YouTube for 'remove CEM'

A lot of people have had issues with the connectors on the CEM. Worth checking, cleaning the connector contacts first and also checking for water damage first. If that fails progress to other checks. Iain |

I did my CEM last year. Water intrusion from the front wiper area. Got the new grommet and replaced it.
Older model has this issue. xemodex has a good video. Send it for repair if you are not sure what you are doing. I cleaned mine the CEM with isopropyl alcohol and did a laquer coating. Look thru my threads you will find more details and guide.
