Default Pinion bearing part numbers

I tried to order pinion bearings for a 1031 axle from my local dealer and was told there is only one bearing and it is 2-3 weeks as it has to come from Sweden.

I thanked him for the information and put the phone down. It's a Dana 30 axle for gods sake! Fitted in everything. And I've seen two bearings with my own eyes!

Anyway, after a bit of digging and cross referencing I've found the Timken bearing numbers and my local bearing suppliers can get them on a next day delivery!

Outer bearing cone and cup Volvo number 181301-3 and 181302-1, Timken numbers M86647 and M86610. Price ex vat £27.10

Inner bearing cone and cup Volvo number 183328-4 and 183327-6, Timken numbers HM89410 and HM89449. Price ex vat £31.17.

They arrive tomorrow and I'll update the post with the numbers on the boxes as they are sold as a pair for obvious reasons and I can't remember what the set references were.

Anyway, better than two weeks!

I said I'd update this, bearings arrived OK, they weren't Timken, one was a Koyo bearing and the other I forget, a Spanish manufactured bearing. I could have gone back and insisted on Timken but frankly two new bearings versus two knackered and noisy bearings- no contest

The part numbers are good for Timken though
86647/610 and 89449/410

I ended up making a replica of a Volvo pinion bearing puller 5216 in the end but that allows the removal of the bearing without damage so that is a useful lucky talisman to ensure I don't need to go there anymore
