UPDATE 2: I have checked the VIDA code and it is BCM0101 and after resetting the egr fault it has now come back in again (I used VIDA to tell the car a new egr had been fitted). Any help would be gratefully received as the car is going into Snows Volvo Southampton on the 4th of January at a cost of £148 for diagnoses.

This code means that there is a communication problem from the BCM to the ECM and it is NOT the BCM which is the problem ...

This is not the familiar BCM Pressure sensor code ..

Hi thanks for the reply. I don't suppose you have any clue of where to start looking?. Is it a case of starting with the BCM and checking the cabling to the ECM? Any help would be gratefully accepted.

I would start at the ECU end and look at the plug connectors for signs of water or corrosion . Have you got any ECU fault codes?

I did have egr voltage too low and a couple of others all to do with egr this originally lead me to replace the egr. Also in the menu in the car dstc is off and blis reduced function. I have been out in the car today though and no fauilts showing at all.

DSC off is due to the brake communication fault , were the EGR codes a genuine problem?

The way it is looking at the moment I don't think the egr was a problem but it's been replaced so should be OK for a few years now. I will check the ECU at work this week and clean the electrical connections. Typically no fault lights at all on the way into work this morning.

The ECU has sealed waterproof terminals , Have a close look at the engine loom
especially under the coolant bottle where it has the AC pipes pressing on it ,
and there is the edge of the chassis just forward of the coolant bottle ..and on the gearbox side where it can rub on the gearbox.

I believe my ECU is fitted under the NSF wheel arch not in the engine bay, if this is the case can i disconnect the battery then remove the ECU and use contact cleaner to clean the plug and socket then replace?

you can do , but highly unlikely to find the fault there , It has dust and waterproof seals on each wire going into the ECU . check your loom as I described above .
