D5 remap recommendation
Do you guys know any reputable place where I could remap my D5 215. I would love to get it dynoed before and after so I know the condition of the engine and final results are transparent.
I've spoken to superchips in buckingham and celtic tuning as well as Snows volvo for polestar map. Obviously polestar gains are smaller but you kind of get peace of mind guaranteed by volvo dealership (£525 quoted and no dyno runs), Superchips, Bucingham (quoted me £339 + £120 for 2 dyno runs) and stated they do not dyno car unless specifically requested which is a bit of a concern to be fair. Celtic tuning, so far is at the top of my list (£300 quoted inclusive of 2 dyno runs) Apart from polestar optimisation superchips and celtic tuning offer similar gains (+35-40bhp + 60-70nm) Does anyone have any experience with volvo and celtic tuning map? I spoke to them on the phone and they seems like a knowledgeable bunch. They dont push for top figures and offer dyno runs that can help spot potential threats before modifying ecu. |

Shem Green at Shemtech in Nottinghamshire did mine. I posted this question on the Volvo Tuning Facebook group (before it vanished) and nearly every reply pointed me towards Shem. I've had the map 18 months now and am well happy with it.

No the faults have not been corrected despite back and forth on FB messenger.
Don't get me wrong the PERFORMANCE of the remap was bang on. Just executed in a poor manner. I suspect but cannot prove as I'm not a remapper that the cruise was broken due to a manual car remap applied to an auto car. (showed clutch error) as soon as re flash to original map no problem. So I'm down the cost of his map plus getting another remap done by nick Lawrence

probably a more useful if you expanded on why really ...
anyway .... I am guessing you are only going in for a stage 1 map so celtic should be fine. BD Performance have a custom tuner who can map volvo's with rolling roads close by. I previously had a superchips map on my T5 and personally dont think it really matters where you go for just an initial map for that kick of power, any reputable mapper will do. As for the Volvo specialists, I have tried numerous times to get Tim to map mine with 0 results, he has reported some great custom mapping work but he is incredibly difficult to do anything with, you will be pulling your hair out. I orders parts from him which arrived about a year later, and have been over half a year of him telling me hs is going to map my car with no commitment and flaking out on the week of the date we mentioned (Happened about 3 - 4 times so I just gave up). So take that which ever way you want, all notes are in my build thread in my signiture. My car ended up going to Shems as he was recommended and he is also a particulaly hard person to get a hold of or to get updates from. He did end up mapping my car but it took him 4 - 5 months of dilly dallying around and it was still incomplete. The car is fine with some good gains but defenitly not smooth. I know barrybritcher mentioned he didnt have cruise control after, so I just want to say that I still have cruise control. I personally would just go with any reputable mapper close to you (Do your research as there are tonnes) and stick the car in there, if there are any issues then atleast its not a hassle for you to get the car back to them. People like Superchips / Celtic tuning etc have maps not tailored to your car but to that specific model / engine, even though they are not custom, they are more reliable and less of a progression which is what custom maps are.
