Default Now for sale!

hi all,

I have a v40 1.9d 115BHP phase2sport LUX (no front splitter) . 205,000 miles on the clock, had new cambelt at 198,000, new turbo 202,000. its been serviced regularly by myself any i have always used premium parts (mann or hengst filters) has decent tyres on it too. It has a towbar, DAB radio with bluetooth/handsfree. wind deflectors made by heko, full leather interior, few nicks marks and scuffs as you would expect with a car of this age. it averages 55mpg on a motorway run, thats including giving it some gas when and if required. i have a new CEM for it that needs fitting and the bridging wire will need removing once the new CEM is fitted. im happy to do this.

£1250

or £1400 with a full set of winter wheels (alloys and tyres)

i dont want to we buy any car it but i will if it comes to it. i think this is a fair price for this motor. im open to offer as long as they are reasonable.

shaun

Hi Shaun,

What year is it? Some pics would be good.

I may be interested but at a much lower price, might be worth comparing with eBay etc. as I saw a mint looking similar model for this kind of money last week and it only had 80k ish on the clock.

Much lower won't buy it. I would rather break it. Sorry.

It's a 52 plate BTW. Least I would take for it £1000 and that won't include the stereo,

Just been looking on eBay and my car is a fair price. It has had work done in it so it is reliable (new cambelt, turbo, filters etc). Yes ok my car does not have a full service history (it has part) but it is sound and always replaced parts with genuine or decent aftermarket.

Also it's a ideal they hold their money better.

The problem is the 205k miles IMO. You might know and believe it is sound but the average buyer wont.....especially without the full history. Agree its just a cursory bit of paper but none the less.

I have bought and sold quite a few cars (more than i can remember) as i used to be a trader and funded my way through Uni doing it. Frankly at that kind of miles you are well off book price. You might see people advertising cars with that kind of miles for a certain price but that does not mean that they get what they are asking for. personally if i saw that kind of miles i would be thinking minicab.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you want a bag for it you are better off breaking it. I just paid £1500 for my '04 plate 2.0 petrol sport lux with 69k on it Full Volvo history and practically mint condition bar a few cosmetic grumbles that will cost me <£100 to fix. OK its a petrol but to me that means less to go wrong the fact it does 10 less MPG.....OK maybe 15 .....is hear nor there at the money and no car with 205k miles on it will "hold its money", sorry but that's fact. From personal experience a car at this kind of money is basically disposable so a "complicated" turbo charged derv is never even on my radar when im buying cheap.

If you have the wherewithal to break it then do it, you will see much better return on your car. My sister is breaking my old Alfa 156 at the momment. was offered £150 in scrap weight, so far has got just short of a grand from the bits she has stripped off it (also very good condition apart from the bottom end).

I would have thought £5-600 would be realistic with those kinda miles if of are selling it whole. Apart from anything else now isn't a good time to sell cars given the time of year.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do though...sorry!

Put it on ebay with no reserve and see what you get. There is no buyer protection on cars so you are not obliged to sell it if it gets less than what you want.

No it's about the hassle and it's a definite sale.

Anyway the car is (might be) going on Saturday. £850 from a dealer on px

Looks like I'm buying a CLK (this might change to a range rover if I get my way)
