Hot weather issues?
Hi folks
Did anyone experience issues with their cars in the recent hot weather? On Sunday, I drove 450 miles to North Wales and in the last 30 or so miles, the car developed an occasional stutter. It was fine the next day and on the return trip yesterday so I'm thinking it was heat related as it was around 32 degrees between Chester and Llanberis

My car went into reduced power which I believe was due to overheating. The cause was a heavily laden trailer of straw that was being blown off the bales and leaving a trail for following cars to drive into. I only realised how much had collected on the radiator later and after removal all is now fine.

No, performed as it should at all times. That said no long journey undertaken.

The heat in this country shouldn't even come close to causing issues. Volvo sell cars in the US, Australia, Italy, UAE etc. It get's hotter than a crackhead's spoon on Giro day in those countries so if the cars perform there they should be fine here.

Heat
My wife and I used our XC60 for nearly 5 years in Sydney before bringing it back to NZ. It was always parked outside in that time and temperatures were often in the early to mid 30s - the highest I recall was 44 degrees C. (Spent most of that day in the swimming pool or in air conditioned comfort inside)
Anyway, I had no issues with the heat affecting the car's performance or reliability. The only issue was with the obvious hot interior when you first get into the car (black leather upholstery = ouch). If I knew it was going to be a scorcher of a day I would make sure I parked with a silver reflecting heat blind inside the front window screen. Also, if no rain was expected then winding down the drivers side window to leave a small gap (say half an inch / 10mm) made a big difference as it allowed the hot air to escape. Temperatures in a fully closed up parked car on a 40 degree day can easily exceed 60 or 70 degrees. Due to the known heat issue I deliberately bought a white car as it heats up far less than a darker coloured car (also it's a very visible = safe colour) The only issue in Sydney with the small window gap to minimize interior heat build (apart from an unexcepted rain storm) was huntsman spiders which are big and hairy and can creep inside your parked car via a window gap. If they hide up under your sun visor then when you fold it down they can give you one hell of a fright, especially as they move fast and can jump onto you. We had a few in our house and they always caused great excitement. This crash caused by a surprise spider happened 5 years ago not far from where my sister lives in the Blue Mountains. https://www.bluemountainsgazette.com...our-car-crash/ Suffice to say, my wife and I decided after a while never to leave a window gap when parking our car no matter how hot it was!
