Default 1-4-3 fault code on '94 T-5 Est Auto

Hi

My local friendly independent Volvo specialist has identified my Lamda light code as 1-4-3, ie front knock sensor absent or faulty. He told me the replacement part is not expensive but the job is a pain in the ##### as the inlet manifold has to removed. My Haynes manual seems to agree with this. However, he tells me that the part of the wiring loom associated with the sensor needs to be replaced. Is this right?

The Lamda light has been on and off (mostly on) for more than 6 months and therefore, the car must have been in 'limp home' mode all this time. In fact, theLamda light has been on for most of the 3 and a bit years I've had the car. It's so powerful, it is still fast in this mode, although I've probably missed out on some fun.

My main question, though, is what sort of outlay I can expect to pay for the above job?

Thanks in advance

Stephen

I had the same fault on my 1994 T5. I also had an air bag sensor fault, and in all they cost me about 300 pound to sort out. Too many sensors if you ask me....

If your car was in 'limp home mode', it would NOT being going anywhere fast!

Cheers,
Dan.
