Default Looking at S60R

Been very interested in a number of different Volvo's from V8 to R's. Came across one S60R 2005 June with 59k two owners in Magic Blue Pearl. Up for sale at 9975. Anybody with more experience than me would care to comment on or know this S60R I believe it comes from Scotland and was traded in for a new vehicle. It is on the Volvo Dealers Internet site, you can't miss it as there is only one up for sale. It does look a good one. All comments fully appreciated.

it is a beautyfull car BUT automatic gearbox(if you like, no problem Volvo's automatic gearboxes are not very sporty & if you use it in a 'sporty way', it isn't reliable

Nice Car.....

... can be very pricey if it goes wrong, and lots more gubbins than the regular T5.

Personally, I'd get a S60 T5 get it modified and live with the reduced traction on damp days It'll be a fair bit quicker than an R once on a roll.

I'd get the R, honestly...if you compare the rate at which an R will go round a track compared with a T5, there's a significant difference.

Just make sure it has had the newer design of angle gear fitted, and if it's still sporting a 2.5 engine, get a 2.4 on standby just in case. I still think it's worth the sacrifices to have the better traction, brakes, and suspension goodies.

cheers

James

The S60 R is a very nice car by far the best car I have ever owned. There are a few up for sale during the last few weeks. I have never driven the S80 V8 but it sounds fantastic and you get a whole lot of car for little money, not sure the S80 V8 has the Bembo brakes I think it just has stnd push and slide calipers. The Brembo brakes are fantastic and the AWD gives very good road holding. I have had my 850 R on track at the same time as a very well known S60 R and I was left standing in its wake truley a fantastic car. I think you will be pleased with either one to be honest. I think there are currently 3 V8's on pistonheads at the mo have a test drive and go from there
