Your flaps look so clean I thought they were straight out the box from Volvo. I'm not sure the paint protectors are available separately, I think it all comes as a kit. They are not strictly necessary, hence my comment about Volvo's attention to detail.

Been cleaning up the head earlier, giving it a rinse over with petrol, getting it ready for the put back together and see how many bits I've got left over! haha.
Thought I may as well change the valve stem seals whilst I'm in there. I've gone for pattern parts on those as the bill for all the bits was just getting out of hand. From Volvo £65ish think including vat, victor reinz £23. Anybody heard of victor reinz stuff? Seen good to not so good on tinterweb. Will post some pics tomorrow. Gave it a rinse earlier, then take out old stem seals, another rinse then a blow over with compressed air.

Xenons fitted!!! :-)
Swapped out my standard halogen lights today for some xenon upgrades.
Bumper was released and pulled forward to allow the headlights to be more easily removed. Swapped out the faulty headlight motor at the same time, while the passenger headlight was out. The Xenon lights only had standard black bezels, so I removed the glass lenses and swapped the black ones for my black and chrome ringed style. New Osram Xenarc D2R bulbs were installed, as well as a pair of Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited full beam bulbs and LED sidelights were also fitted. White ice fog light bulbs were also fitted at the same time, since the belly pan was off and the front of the car in the air! Also, I painted the headlight wiper surrounds back to black. Great light output on the road - much better than with my old upgrade kit!! Some pics... Tomorrow? Fit some new bulbs into the number plate bulb holders!!! Gary

Replaced the outer CV joint on my Ph1 T4, the hardest part of the job was getting the correct one. Volvo only sell the whole shaft at £300+, Eurocarparts say they have the correct one but don't! Tried all they could supply & they are all incorrect.
Eventually found a manufacturer called Shaftec that make the correct one for £48 Here are the details in case anyone else is looking. Part Number CV489AN External Teeth, Wheel Side 26 Internal Teeth, Wheel Side 27 Seal Diameter [mm] 56mm Number Of Teeth, ABS Ring 43 Diameter [mm] 98mm Overall Height [mm] 165mm ABS Ring Diameter [mm] 82mm |

I need to do a bit of polishing to one of my headlamps I bought off of antz one seems to have shinier chrome than the other. Last edited by kieran40; Sep 5th, 2015 at 23:05. |

I used Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited H7's in the standard lights and they lit up the road very well. The xenons give a whiter light than the halogens and seems to light the road much further than the H7's do. When I fitted the HID conversion kit, it looked great when looking at them, but they didn't put much light on the road - almost like side lights! I hated driving in the rain with them. I read on the Osram website that it is now illegal to fit HID bulbs into halogen headlights. I noticed that the reflector shape is different on the xenon headlight to the halogen type. The centre post on the xenon light has a bigger cap and end cover., where the halogen only has a sleeve. Gary
