Geartronic oil- is it so costly?
My local Volvo man advised me to get the oil checked / changed (if needed) in my 2006 C70 coupe with auto / manual box. He said only Volvo oil will do / no other make is available and an oil change before towing a van in France will be nearly £400!!!!! Difficult to swallow - is this true?????

Oil has to be jws 3309 spec, mobil do it also recently carlube Atfu is compliant, there are loads of gearbox oil threads on here including video guides to doing it yourself ,if your dealer is doing it they will use Volvo oil and it is pretty expensive, but nit as expensive as a knacked box.
Check out Jws 3309 on ebay for prices. ( jws stands for Japan World Standard ) Just so you can be a real Volvo bore down the pub. lol. Not sure how much oil yours will need to change out but it usually costs about 8 or 9 quid a litre. |

I got the GM stuff for a fraction of the price. Its used for the same gearbox so I took a stab that its got to be near enough the same! Do a bit of research on it and when im in the garage tomorrow ill get you the info off the bottle.
