Red Herring or not, from personal experience it's happened to me two times both when I was really low on fuel. It's never happened at any other time. I also read somewhere that low fuel can cause it but of course I can't find it now.
Surely the easiest way is to rule that aspect out is by putting some fuel in. If it carries on then clearly the fault is elsewhere.

I'm not saying that it hasn't happened to you, I'm saying that the start prevented message and low fuel is at best, a coincidence.
They are not related. That's not how the starting system works.

If the engine turns over, the problem isn't the immobiliser. Fuel may be an issue but so may many other things.

If the engine doesn't turn over and "Start Prevented" or similar appears, there's a conflict with the immobiliser code. Fuel level is irrelevant.

Default start prevented

Could someone help please , started the car no bother had to go back into house so switched off , came out after 5 mins tried to start but , nothing exept start prevented try again tried again nothing got out rang green flag got back in 10 mins later tried again and it started ?? what could cause this .
