Default removing drive shaft from hub

Ive tried to remove the front hub on my xc90 to replace the abs ring , but the shaft appears to be really tight in the hub , no description or youtube vid mentions this, do i need to drift it out with some force ?

If its red rusty then it will be a garage job with the very really chance that it will need a hub, carrier and new driveshaft

Cool

Do Volvo glue these in as well as the V70's?

Mine is rock solid stuck in there! Tried a hub puller til I was blue in the face! Wouldn't move!

I ended up at a local classic car resto garage on the basis hed done loads of seized hubs , plus he drives an xc v8 , he spent some time on the first hub ( part of the high bill ) before heating and destroying the hub , we agreed he should spend just 20 minutes on the second hub before going for the acetylene !, that's the way he'll go in future.
good luck Dave

I've not had a problem removing drive shafts from the hub. Disconnect strut from bottom link, undo the bolt from the centre of the hub and pull hub towards you, have had to tap gently but never welly it.
Seems I may of been lucky.

There is a school of thought that says use thread lock on splines to prevent wear, I do not subscribe to it, I grease the splines lightly so that getting them apart next time is easier.

Agree with that. I've pulled four apart with my homemade puller that were glued in, all went back with grease.

I've replaced front hub on my 2011 xc90, thankfully the drive shaft came out OK! My problem is I cannot for love nor money get the drive shaft to go into the new hub. Double let checked measurements all looks OK.
Are these meant to be pressed on?
