Default S60 2.4d5 185bhp 6-speed manual 2008

Time to sell on my S60. I've had it for nearly two years. New discs and pads when I got it. Bodywork and cloth interior in excellent condition, tyres very good. Engine, box and clutch excellent. Volvo service history until 100k. I'm the third owner.

146000 miles and in daily use
MOT is until December

£1500

I'm in Wakefield, West Yorkshire

That’s a lot of car for very little money.

At another time I wouldn't be selling but needs must. It's not money that's the problem but space. I've just found a one owner Saab estate in mint condition for pennies. With my two classics, the wife's and this Volvo there's nowhere to put it so something has to give.

No response from this forum so it's obviously not underpriced - or maybe it's because it's the poverty spec S model The car's deliberately priced to sell and the response from elsewhere has been good.

I ran one for three years doing 100 mike round trip every day for work; supremely comfortable. If I didn’t have three cars already, I’d get another for when it’s not convertible weather! And having two dogs means I can’t replace one of the others with an S60.

With absolutely no interest from this site and nothing but empty promises elsewhere I was pleasantly hopeful of a visit from a guy who was traveling over two hours to see it. He arrived on time with his wife so my first thoughts were that one of them would be driving the Volvo home. Apparently his wife didn't want to drive that far and he would have to come back by train tomorrow. A bit further prying found that he had no money on him and he wanted to pay by bank transfer. Hmmm, I'm starting to think this isn't going to be as straightforward as I thought.

He starts looking around the car and asking the right questions, but isn't impressed that it's not a FULL Volvo service history and that that the mileage is more than he thought. Then his wife starts talking to me, keeping my attention, whilst he looks over the engine. Two minutes later he wants to go for a test drive. So off we go with him driving. Within a quarter of a mile a warning message pops up, ENGINE SERVICE REQUIRED. Strange, I'd not had that in the two years I've had the car. No power he says, turbo's gone. I've never had a problem with this car and now this today of all days. I took over and sure enough the lack of power was noticeable.

Drove it back, nothing obvious, guy said he wasn't interested which was fair enough. Ten minutes later I drove it on my own - no problem! Now very confused. Had a good look under the bonnet and the swirl arm was dislodged. Tried to move the arm to find the stepper motor arm would not move at all - solid. Now when he drove it he hammered it, 3000rpm and more. I never take it above 2200.

The upshot is the stepper motor is solid, so can it be reset insitu, can it be removed and reset, or does it need to be replaced?

The final straw was when I hooked the car up to Vida. It kept flashing up that it didn't recognise a piece of hardware and also wouldn't log on. Some research on the net suggested I needed the patch which I already have, so any ideas what I need to do to make Vida work.
