Default Power Sockets in V60

Loving my new V60, more than happy with the fuel consumption 52mpg average from Home to Harz mountains and back, but there's one little niggle.
The cigarette/power socket in the centre console is OK, BUT with a portable sat nav plugged in, the sat nav plug itself sits up obtrusively. Plugging in with a extension lead to the socket in the rear of the console is OK, unless you are carrying rear seat passengers, but results in miles of wire to find a home for (under the mats!).
I was thinking of finding a convenient place to fit an additional socket, somewhere out of the way, behind the floating dash bit, and was wondering if anyone has done anything similar? I can see it being fraught with problems, I dislike messing with modern vehicle wiring at the best of times, plus access could be a nightmare, but it would be nice to be able to tidy up the sat nav wiring in some way.
My sat nav gets the traffic broadcasts, and auto-re-routes based on their information, so its NOT possible to alter the sat nav lead in any way, as there is an aerial feed down the power lead into a little processing unit hidden inside the plug assembly, hence the 'bulk' of the plug. (Guess how I know this!).

i have hardwired a 2 way extension into the back of the socket in the center console on my XC60.

it was merely a case of pulling out the cupholders and pulling the socket to get to the wiring, and getting the solder iron out to do the business.

i have tucked the new sockets under the trim which was easily prised out in the footwell.
just make sure you have an inline fuse to the extension if it hasn't got one built in.

mine runs the GPS and crash cam. that way the centre one is free to plug the phone in.
