I usually do an annual oil and filter change about now so given your experience I'll try 20/50 this time round and see if it keeps the rattles away. I only do around 5k a year so it will be an interesting exercise to see if it keeps it quiet for a full year. Cheers Phil |

Is the cooling fan on a viscous coupling? if so check thats not worn causing it to woble at low RPM, slightly higher RPM and the centrifugal force will stablize the fan thus leading to no knocking, only seen this once on a 245 years ago, it took ages to locate the noise but changing the fan coupling got rid of the problem - Mike
