You would be better starting a new thread. However, before you do I would recommend that you get the codes pulled from the ECU. The "Engine System Service Required" message is extremely generic. Pretty much every component under the bonnet of the vehicle can trip it.

Although that's for a S80 D5 but he does suggest, it works on other Volvos.
