The Stromberg or Pierburg that is on the B21A will do the job. Take the whole manifold, as it is a horizontal carb.

You will need the throttle cable as well, and the air intake parts.

Not quite. After endless and untraceable trouble with the Cisak I replaced it with a complete Stromberg 175 and manifold from an early B21A, which I just happened to have.
As Mike says, you need the throttle cable and air intake bits to fit the carb. (In fact, I had lost the big plate that bolts onto the air side of the carb, so made another one out of sheet metal.) I changed the carb needle for a slightly richer one, to reflect the increased engine size (2.1 to 2.3 ). There's a well known carburettor place whose name escapes me who do all the bits for all carbs, and advised what needle I needed. As soon as I said "Cisak" he replied "bin it" ! You do have to think carefully what to do with the coloured pipework. There are two vacuum tappings on the Stromberg, one possibly in the manifold, the other in the carb itself, which is more related to throttle position than the other. But that won't take care of all the pipes. You can scrap the Pulsair thing on the air intake box, and the EGR on the exhaust manifold, just blank off each end of each remaining pipe. But some of the vacuum piping controls the ignition system, so I think you have to retain that. I've no experience of re-routing that side, because I gave up on the Bendix-Rex ignition at the same time and fitted the old B21A distributor with a Lumenition conversion, which again I happened to have. The only vacuum connection left is the traditional vacuum advance to the distributor, and I chose which of the two tappings by experiment (can't recall which offhand) The car has behaved perfectly ever since with this conversion, easily passed the MOT emissions test, starts first time (full choke, no accelerator, then choke half in when it fires) and suffers none of the delightful Cisak quirks of icing, misfiring, cutting out. And the Stromberg is simplicity itself - one jet, easy tuning. Someone has pointed out that an SU from an early car would be even better, with no diaphram. Anyway, good luck with the Cisak. |

Hello everybody!
I'm back with bad news (for me) I just found out that Volvo doesn't supply anymore repair kits (there are 2 of them in the parts program) and gasket kit for the Solex-Cisac carburettor. As my Solex is old and tired I really need to overhaul it. Can anybody give me a link or a source that could provide (sell) a repair kit or both of them and a gasket kit? I appreciate very much your support! I will come back with the reference (code) of my Solex carb.

Updates (bad, unfortunately) I contacted the guys at gower and lee by email and haven't received any answer since then.
So I sent another email today. Hope they will answer. In the meantime I found other guys that refurbish and sell refurbished carbs on ebay.co.uk. I already contacted them and currently waiting for an answer. Until then I will post some schemes of the Solex-Cisac carb here, maybe someone can help me identify it (its original reference, Solex reference) to make things easier as I don't have its Volvo reference either (that doesn't help me at all) but the Solex reference could (if I can find a working one) ....some day...
