no, thats useing a volvo belt which breaks, the ford belts fit quite well as the tensioner takes out the slack... but the original question is "which one's don't have valve contact ?"

Yes, I know what you mean old chap. Despite myself I cant help but laugh - I am on my 3rd glass of red wine however.

(I do find the signature 'old grannies wanted' slightly disturbing though)

it may take out the slack if its to long but as you said it may be to short...... what then divine wind?... it maybe a prudent course of action to actually fit the correct belt, as im sure volvo in there infinite wisdom thought this one through and specified a belt that was niether to long nor to short, ...in short the correct belt (if you will forgive the pun)

why should a belt with a tooth less or a tooth extra not fit - surely the tensioner will take up that - so long as the tooth shape and pitch are correct what is one tooth one way or the other - perhaps the Pinto belt is stronger than the Volvo - which might be a reason for using it - though i think myself i would be fitting a Volvo belt and not trying to fit a belt from another car unless i knew it was going to last forever - oh yes i remember them they were called GEARS!!!!!

if i were marooned on pluto with a broken cam belt and the only spare i had was a pinto belt, yes i would fit it, but back on planet earth why would anyone wish to fit such a critical item as a cambelt from a totally different engine when i could just as easily buy the correct item ....or am i another planet here?

If I was marooned on a distant planet with no breathable atmosphere I think that a Volvo cambelt would be the least of my worries.........

AH some one now on the same wave length !
the tooth shape & picth are slightly different
but if you were stuck in the desert with only a ford belt surely you'd give it a go
but as we have loads of ford belt & NO volvo (as they always break)
i can see why pepole convert to 2.8 ! (ford that is)
gona go back to using fords i think as the vol's arnt that strong at the front due to a lack of metal !
