Ah thanks for that - I doubt it will ground on bumps - modern cars usually only just ground on certain bumps, so I doubt mine will be a problem...
Its still kinda low on the priority list, but if a later ones will fit [i.e. the purpose of this thread], then the first one I can find at a decent price will be on my bumper quicker than you can say "originality"!

Hi steve, bad news, I think there is not much chance of making the later plastic spoier fit an early big bumper model. I offered one up this afternoon, it is about 4" narrower than the narrowest point on the bottom of the bumper, if you look under your car there is a gap at the sides of the front wings and the bumper of about 2" each side, the later spoiler fits very close to the wings, also the nose of the 81 on models must be a little more pointed as it sits 2" further forward in the middle of the bumper than at the edges. Hope that helps.

This is the turbo I looked at - which is a little lower
Is that the sort of profile you were thinking of? |

Quite possibly, although i wont be lowering the car until i start driving it, i want to see the difference it makes to the handling....
not 17 until march so probably wont be lowering until next summer, the spoiler, however is something id like to do as soon as i can find one to fit my bumpers... Steve

Steve, think the 244 will look alot better from the front with the lower spoiler, always thought the early 240's missed that spoiler it should have been standard fit, shame the later 240 spoiler won't bolt straight on the 760 idea with the holes for the fog lights is a good idea but I doubt that will fit either if the 240 one won't

Andy, thanks for the kind comments. A lot of work went into the Scimitar to get it right (e.g. when I started, the left side of the car was 15mm longer than the right due to previous poor accident repair!).
It's actually an SE5, not a 5a. The 5 has lower headlights and a better interior amongst many other small differences. Mine was a beast, 4.6 efi TVR V8 and T5 manual box. I was happy with the subtle mods, very pleased with the (functional) side grilles (which are bonnet grilles off a 90s Micra). Anyway, back to your thread Steve's. I do think the (early) 760 spoiler is worth a try. If I'm reading previous posts correctly, the late 240 spoiler is 4 inches too narrow for Thor... could be that a 760 spolier is about right for fitting to the big bumper 240? Chances are it would be cheaper than an early 240 spolier which are quite sought after. John |

John, I know what you mean, but im wanting to stick with 200 series parts to be honest........im not so sure that a 760 spoiler would suit, and eveyone would nit pick because it would obviously be a mod.....
Maybe someone can prove me wrong? :P Steve

240 Turbo
|
Its a shame that 245 near me went for banger racing as it had a front spoiler and a few other useful bits and pieces left on it too.
