2011 D3 V70….

Heating/climate control is perfect when driving, come to a standstill for 5-10 mins and it starts blowing through cool air, start driving again it warms up…..🤔

Sorry, just wondering why, and under what circumstances you would want to sit idling for 10 mins, with the heater on? I find if warm, the car stays warm inside for a long time after I switch off/stop start, if I don't open a door. (think sitting outside a supermarket)

- If your car has start/stop (don't think 2011 models did) then if then engine is off there is no water circulating so this happens.

- Modern diesel engines are so efficient at tickover that the amount of heat they produce is less and after a period of idling, the heater can get cooler, but shouldn't be completely cool.

Check coolant levels and any signs of a head gasket lead. Remove the expansion tank cap in the morning when the engine is stone cold, you shouldn't get much of a hiss...

Also try increasing the revs a few seconds - does that have an impact?

Is the D3 the PSA engine?
If so, with the heater on full, at idle it WILL cool it down to cold. Our Berlingo van used to cool itself to ice cold, We would leave it idling for maybe 2-3 hours, expecting a toasty warm van, heater blower on max... It was still cold. Set it on 1 or 2 on the fan, it would warm up within half an hour.
I ended up using a large bolt on the throttle to up the revs to 1500-2000rpm.

If Idling, either run the heater on 1 or 2 clicks, or Up the idle.

D5 engines run quite efficient. Idling all day will still produce heat with heater running on nearly full. It begins to falter when running flat out. Needs a few good revs to warm engine back up.
