Very recently Powerflexed the control arms on my XC90. My biggest problem was separating the lower ball joint as some goon had got threadlock into the taper when they were last replaced. Have had the control arms and struts out of S60s and V70 numerous times and never had this problem before. Biggest issue generally is making sure you don't pull the drive shaft out too far and separate the inner joint.
On the XC90 I compressed the springs before dismantling everything and that made it easier to reassemble, but still used a ratchet to pull the control arm down. Not tried spring compressors on the S60/V70 and don't know if there's enough room on the XC70.
