Have you pressed the OK button on the end of the stalk? Have a look in the owner's manual , you will find info there you don't find anywhere else.

Have you tried pressing the button on the end of the indicator stalk.

Has anyone been able to resolve this?

Just bought a 2016 XC90 and I have this issue. I am unable to acknowledge the message with the “O” button on the steering wheel despite the clear instructions in the owners manual. The message is only present when the engine is running, but not when just the electrics are on. Having the message on the screen seems to block the ability to use any of the functions of the drivers display when driving so I’m unable to control the media / phone etc. from the steering wheel controls.

Is anyone aware if a software upgrade has been released which maybe my vehicle doesn’t have? I have connected the car to my phone’s network connection but it says that no system updates are available (just APP updates).

Next stop an expensive visit to a Volvo dealership I fear..

System updates have never been implemented, nor will they be.

Can't help with your particular problem but it may indicate a fault with the airbag system.

Mine worked by pressing the O button on steering wheel

What is the car and how old, I got this after buying a second hand car and getting the software updated
The solution was to replace the steering wheel buttons with new ones, but in the first instance I was told to push hard on the upper frame of the rh buttons with one hand and push the O with the other, after a few tries it cleared

I changed the buttons myself, not hard job there are videos on YouTube on how to remove the airbag once you have the battery off for 20 mins

Buttons were £90 ish it think

I have found the solution!!!

What a stupid bleeding problem to have first of all.

So I have the 2016 XC90 D5 inscription, and my other half decided it would be good to change the passenger airbag to off due to the rear facing baby seat being in the front. This is when I got this stupid acknowledgement thing. 2 months without my display all because of a stupid acknowledgement!

The way to fix this is you need to put a SIM card (ANY SIM card) into the car modem slot in the boot (where the tyre is). This will allow you to acknowledge the airbag thing. It seems the acknowledgement is to either send the info to Volvo, or to your Volvo account, I’m not sure which. But it has to use your card modem connection. Then you can remove the SIM card. Job done!!

I bought a 1gb PAYG from Amazon for £3. I’ll keep it in as it gives realtime weather updates, etc.

I tried doing this with my mobile phone connected as a hotspot, but it doesn’t work. Had to be a SIM card in the boot.

Anyway, hope this resolves this stupid problem for everybody :-)
