Default C30 SRS airbag service required

Over the past few weeks the message 'SRS airbag service required' flashes up quite randomly. How and why would this appear? Anyone any ideas?
Also, I occasionally get messages ' Left rear belt in use' and 'No rear belt in use' with the alarm also going off. Have I got a faulty connection somewhere?
Thanks in anticipation.

From your symptoms you have seat belt buckle switch issues.
Ensure all seat belt buckles are clean work working well.
Clean them out with an air spray and maybe WD40 as well.

The SRS one could be a module out and send away but I have also recently had similar symptoms which I think is due to low battery (having not had the car drive for quite a few months, after a long drive it hasnt reappeared).

Have you got anything on the seats when this error pops up as there is a sensor which tells the seat if someone/thing is on it and therefore the seatbelt should be connected

Thanks Andy, nothing on the seats. No problems today with the seat belts, but I will check all the buckles (Ta Swiss) but still having the SRS service popping up but only occasionally? Battery should be OK but will get it checked.

Definitely check the battery first - getting random and unrelated messages is always a sign that it's on it's way out. It happened to both my C30 and C70 for a few days with various messages, then the batteries on both just died.

Failing that, the SRS service required message can be caused by the switch that disables the passenger airbag either acting up or the airbag being switched off. Check the switch - is it in the on position? If it is, switch it off and on several times to clean the internal contacts. Do this with the ignition off.

Regards
John

Thanks John, will try that, although the seat belt issue hasn't appeared again.

If the battery isn't the problem then you may need to do what I did. Remove the unit (helpfully under the tunnel between the seats - not) and sent it off to Crashdata who clear the error codes and return it very quickly. Not cheap but problem fixed.

Update: The rear seat belt issue has not occurred again, carried some rear seat passengers for the first time in ages with no probs with the belts.
BUT for some reason the waterfall console froze the other day, couldn't alter heating, radio etc, Very odd.
I'm living with the SRS service at the moment, sometimes it doesn't show itself for days and then appears randomly, could it be a loose connection?
Checked the battery and it's good. Disconnected everything for 15 mins. then reconnected.

Hi I apologise for hijacking this thread but I’m having problems working out how to ask a question on here?!! Basically I have a 2010 c30 it has nice black alloys however the little Volvo badge in the centre of the wheel looks scruffy and worn away, any ideas where I might get new ones, also the leather interior looks tired with some big creases in any ideas? Thanks in advance
