The Polestar Remap made a significant difference (esp driveability) to my D4. It was 205hp before the upgrade and 225hp after.

I am selling the car and no one seems to want to offer more for the Polestar engine upgrade and the polestar suspension. If anyone wants to work out if the token can be moved from car to car and wants to make me an offer then I may consider letting someone adopt it before I sell the car.

100% agree with you but what I was saying is insurance do not want to insure the car with polestar if you add on later than in factory.

That's why I am telling if I have to pay £300 more for my premium I would rather to go with map that will convert D4 to D5 for less money than Polestar optimization.
I understand that Polestar is more about gearbox but anyway

I looked into polestar for my 2012 (mine is one of the earliest).

Insurance is absolutely harder with it if it was added after factory.

This is in part due to not being able to go to online price comparison places as they simply state ‘chipped’ and not optimised etc. So now you have to work with insurers one by one and usually call to explain.

I would buy a factory upgrade polestar however I would be very very put off paying for a polestar upgrade someone else had added at a later date.

My advice would be to remove non standard parts from the car and then sell the vehicle. To me after market add one, even if desirable reduce the market audience.

Polestar is not a factory option it is classed as an Accessory ... always carried out at the dealer, either before or after delivery ..

Thanks Clan and i understand that but there seemed to be a suggestion that insurers viewed PS differently if car was supplied to me with PS as opposed to it being fitted post delivery and keen to understand why insurers view it differently.

I guess they have data to prove that if you choose to fit it you are going to tear around the country and more likely to have an accident ... but if it was fitted by a previous owner , you are more likely to be an " Average " volvo driver ...

I bought my V60 2nd hand. Original owner had Polestar done but it wasn't mentioned by the dealer and I didn't know anything about it until reading it on here, so my current insurance doesn't list it as a mod.
Just got quotes through the meerkat and adding on "engine chip <10% bhp increase" is adding on about £120 to the quotes compared to saying there are no modifications.
That is all from mainstream insurers.

So, I wouldn't say it was hard to get insurance with Polestar, but it will probably cost more unless you can speak to a real human and get the message across to the low paid drone in the call centre.
I'll see how much my renewal is for next year and I may be phoning them to haggle that down anyway, at which point I can ask them about Polestar.

Keep us inform please. If you find provider that accept PS without overpricing for it
