Default V60 under-mirror lights

Hi all
2013 V60 D4 5cyl se lux. Much-loved.
‘Puddle lights’ under the wing mirrors. .

In other cars I had, including the Citroen I currently have, if I unlock the car as I walk towards it the mirrors unfold and the under mirror lights come on to illuminate my approach and help me avoid the inevitable puddle etc.

In the V60, hit the unlock button, mirrors unfold, no under mirror lights. They are there but nit on Apparently Volvo don’t want me avoiding puddles.
Yes I can separately/additionally hit the remote button to activate the welcome light function, which not only turns on the parking lights front/back but also the under mirror lights.
They also come on when I activate the guide-me-home lights.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a bit of a waste, having installed the hardware, that they don’t come on at every unlock.
Coupled to the truly dire bootlight situation I’d even wonder about design credentials in a country close to Arctic circle.

Yes it’s a bit of a first world problem but Maybe I’m missing a setting?

Red face Puddle lights

I have the same model car as you albeit a 2012, not had it long and don't use it much at night so I'll have to check mine, I'm pretty sure it's the same as yours, they only come on with the welcome or see me home facility

Just checked mine and it's the same, puddle lights only come with welcome lights.

I've put an led bulb in the boot tailgate light which helps illumination especially if you roll the load cover back. Both are silly design/ build faults. I would also like to get the headlights turned off when the headlight switch is off, drls are working on the front so don't need headlights as well.

Martyn

I dont know ifmit applies to your model, but in my V70 they can be programmed from the cars set uo display. Might be worth a deep root around in the menus?

You can. Turn your headlight switch to “0” or 12 o’clock position. You are on front marker lights only then, but it’s easy to forget and wonder off leaving the lights on ( front markers and tails), against human nature to turn things on, so that they switch off automatically.

My headlights and drls are on when the switch is to "0", 12 o'clock is drls and marker lights, the 3rd position is full function of lights, high beam. I'd prefer not to have to keep switching to the 12 o'clock position to just use drls and marker lights so that I don't keep leaving the marker lights on.
