Default P1800ES Quarter Light

When I bought my P1800ES last March in the Bangers and Cash auction it was completely unseen by me! So didn't notice from what I saw on-line that the handle on the driver's side quarter light was broken off. I managed to source a pair of used ones (had to buy the pair) complete with frames. However, the one I wanted, the driver's side, does not lock; that is, there is no need to press the little black button in order to rotate the small handle. Now the passenger side one does lock and according to the parts diagram it looks like they are similar apart from the actual handle, so thought I might be able to disassemble the mechanism and use parts from the passenger side to make a locking one for the driver's side.
There is an off-centre small hole in the handles that looks like it would take a pin but in I can't see a pin, suggested by the parts diagram. In fact in the closed position I can see through the hole mostly with a small obstruction that might be a clip. Anyone know how to take these handles apart?

Many thanks for that; I can at least see what components are involved but he doesn't say how he put it together.

Looking again, that is a roll pin, so hollow and springy; explains why I can see through the pin. I'm going to have to get my self a roll pin removal tool or find the right size nail!
