Default C30 buyers guide?

Hi folks a friend reached out and asked me about wanting to buy a c30. As the owner of a v70 p2 d5 I'm not all that clued up on the C's I just know the d3/d4/d5 are the engines to go for. Any of you folks recommend the ideal trim level /engine gearbox to go for and also what to watch out for

Thanks
Will.

Are there any 'non-negotiables'?

Petrol/ diesel

Auto/ Man gearbox

Colour...... etc etc

(and budget)

I would narrow it down first and then see what is available as relatively speaking there aren't a vast number of cars available.

Sorry forgot too add that ideally diesel/auto I know the ford powershift gearbox is made of chocolate. Just metallic black and the most luxurious interior elements. The budget is pretty high.

then tell your friend to find a GOOD local volvo indy with vida
getting a diesel WILL end up with £££££ bills, no if /and/but/ahhbut about it

or get them to see sense and go for a petrol engine
2.0 petrol /2.4i petrol Without the ford powersh*t gearbox !
the 2.4i with the geartronic box will serve them VERY well,
ok every 100-120k miles you would be advised to change/get changed the atf fluid in the box,,and the engine *when serviced properly + on time / miles with the correct parts Will go for many 100k miles and more
