Default V70 P2 keys (again).

Apologies if this has been covered fully elsewhere. I'm interested in getting a third Key for my '04 170BHP auto.
I have two functioning key fobs.
I've seen a post from a member in London who said he got a key for, I think, £60. I haven't been able to raise them as yet (via PM), and the post is a few years old.

Timpsons tried very hard, but their support eventually confirmed that they couldn't do it.
Another place said 300 for a full key.

I would be more than happy with a 'service key' type of thing - A Basic key with encoded (or cloned) immobiliser chip, no need for the remote fob buttons. It's just a safety spare to keep in my wallet, which i don't intend to lose if I lose a main fob type of key.

Any suggestions/places etc welcome.

I'm aware that there is the expensive dealer route, for a new full key, very expensive, and slow?

Also, given how the fob's keyring wears (it came apart once), I have a new fleabay fob available to attempt a transfer of the guts. I asked a fob repair shop if they'd do it, they said there was a chance of cracking the glass chip, and said no guarantees! Has anyone done this operation please, and, if so, was the chip vulnerable or embedded in goo etc?
I have an analogue electronics background, but not confident with car stuff!
John.

PS. I also read of the idea of putting the chip from a functional key permanently near the ignition switch. I'd like to persist with the above service key approach first though...

I'm not sure if the keys are the same as here but it might be better to ask in the V70 section.

You can order just the blade specific to your car from a main dealer but you still have to pay them to get the in-built transponder coded.
