Default excessive wear on belt

can anyone shine a light on why iv got this much wear on one side of the belt?.

i noticed that i had little shards of rubber in the engine bay and its coming from the aux belt but iv no idea where its actually rubbing and why its only one side.

another thing is its only worn in one small spot on the belt and the rest of the belt has worn normally, so im miffed at why its only worn the belt out in that patch?

the belt will be getting changed this afternoon but i still need to know where its rubbing so i can put it right.

A longer, steady video shot in landscape showing all of the auxiliary pulleys would help.

im guessing is the tensioner si, so its all getting changed this afternoon... i was just a bit perplexed as to why the belt had only worn on one side and only in one small area and not the whole belt.

To be certain, I'd change the tensioner, idler and alternator pulleys.
The alternator pulley was the cause of mine and wore away an entire rib of the auxiliary belt.

I assume Happy Driver (in his very Australian way) was talking about the bit of belt wearing crap visible on the wheel in the third photo.

I'd start by cleaning that out.

well.. it was indeed the crap in the grooves that was the cause of my problem.

when i took the belt off, i noticed that almost all of the grooves had muck in them and especially in the inside, hense all the wear on one side of the belt!.

the tentioner was ok, but i replaced that and the idler pulley anyway and the job is now done thank f*&^ !

iv never come across this before but its a big heads up for everyone in the future to make sure the grooes are clean.

big thanks to everyone for all your input !

Al.
