I wonder if some bright spark has fitted the CTS and temp gauge sensors the wrong way round? Would be worth checking the sensor on the 'stat housing to see what that reads, just in case that's what they've done! Off the top of my head i can't remember but fairly sure they're for the air con yes.

That’s interesting reading as I took a reading off what I thought is the temp sender for the cluster and that came as 0.800 when on the 20k setting.
I don’t have a sensor on the thermostat housing. Looking at the intake side, there’s a sensor under manifold 2, with the knock sensor in sideways beneath it, then another under manifold 3. I understand it that the cluster dial is under 2, the ezk (the sensor in question) under 3? This could all be academic... since I flushed the coolant system this morning I’m getting a lot more white “smoke”. Could be that leaky HG after all 😨 Last edited by StrongSpearWorks; Oct 18th, 2020 at 17:14. |

Yes, ezk under 3 came back as 1.63, as per original post.

If the gauge sensor isn't on the 'stat housing then it's usually near #1 or #2 inlet port.

The Lambda should help a lot of things as should the CTS - let me know how things go! After changing any electronic components, pull fuse #1 to clear the fault code and fuel trims memories, give it a clean start again.

Meant to update this post, not the other one. Sorry.
ECT changed. Wiring fault rectified; not sure what the issue was, but I re-crimped the new sensor ev1 connector and tested the continuity between the plug and the connector block at the near side suspension pillar - it’s pin 7 on connector C51, black and red wire, FYI. Continuity between C51 and EZK was good.
Clear of codes now. 111 reported on position 2&6 on the OBD. Changed the plugs. Changed the O2 sensor. Pulled Fuse 1 for 30 seconds to clear any saved codes and ignition issues. I’m guessing the plugs were quite old - idles nicer now. Still smokes like a steam train. 🤦 |

Good news!
What did you set the plug gap to and what colour is the smoke out the back end?
